Each team has 7 people on the field at any time. To begin the game, and each subsequent point,
the teams line up on the front of the endzone they are defending.
The defence team then starts the point by |

It is the job of the offence team to work the disc down the field by throwing the disc between their players and catching it in the endzone to score a point.
Once a player has caught the disc they have to come to a stop, establish a pivot foot and attempt to throw the disc to another player on their team.
The team on defence tries to stop them by preventing the thrower from throwing by marking them and blocking their throws, knocking the disc to the ground or intercepting the disc.
Any time a pass is not completed, a turnover occurs, the defence immediately becomes the offence and vice versa. This can produce a very fast, athletic and exciting game.

Although it is officially a non-contact sport, contact occurs on a regular basis and is part of the game.
Although players generally try to avoid contact,

Ultimate is unique in that it is self-officiated, relying on "The Spirit of The Game".
Players make their own foul calls.
This ususally works very well... but sometimes leads to discussion!
